Lightboard studio (ITO4001 Foundations of computing)

I had the opportunity to work with Monash University IT academics and OES multimedia specialists develop more engaging video content using the Lightboard studio for Monash Online's ITO4001 Foundations of computing.

The Lightboard is a clear, side-lit glass pane for presentations, allowing the presenter to remain visible while writing with neon markers. Software flips text, and digital overlays enhance visuals.

For ITO4001, the mixture of slide content and penwork was often more engaging and the use of this filming technique humanised the practice of mathematics. For future Lightboard use a more complete powerpoint template and OES processes could be developed to refine the process futrther.

That lightboard stuff... I think that looks amazing, that video ...

EDF5772 Innovations in technologies and pedagogical practice (TP5-22)

Build achievements

• Revised gamified pedagogy reflecting gamification learning content.
• Unit badging using Moodle activity completion mechanic to reward student completion of tasks.
• Personalisation of student's own learning experience.

A former student of the unit, had the following reaction upon reviewing the improved gamification functionality:

Build achievements

• Palliative care case studies using H5P Course Presentation.
• Applied trauma-informed learning design methodologies, including UX design choices.
• Trauma-Aware Learning Design and Delivery
• Redeveloped on-campus learning materials to support student's engagement with difficult content.

Thanks Leigh. That was really great, and considering we're moving into the Graduate Certificate of Domestic Violence units at the moment, this looks really really great...

COS30043 Interface Design and Development

Build achievements

• Designed interactive code-along experiences using CodePen, allowing students can try the code they are learning in video lectures.
• Used CodePen to designed challenge activities for students to test their understanding at the end of each module.
• Implemented gamification elements with unit Badgr badging system in Canvas which rewards students for completing specific coding tasks.

You have made a significant impact, particularly in the BICT units. You led the build on COS30043 which had a 8.60 SFU score and a 93% pass rate. This is the only BICT unit to have such a high score in both areas in it's first iteration online.

Career booster: Beyond your degree

I partnered with another OES learning designer and multimedia producers along with stakeholders from Swinburne Online, SEEK and Vervoe to develop the Accounting employability module

The module is for graduating accounting students to develop job-readiness skills before entering the accounting workforce.

You have participated in and led several projects that have had a large impact on both the way we work and the experience our students have as the end user. In particular ... the work you completed in the Career booster: Beyond your degree accountancy employability module is now being rolled out across other units.
